Volos - Pagasitikos gulf
Volos port city, is the capital of the wonderful region of Magnesia. Situated at the base of the beautiful Pelion mountain peninsular.
Α modern city with mythical roots, welcomes you on the waterfront opposite the yachts where you can enjoy the famous "tsipouradika" (places that offer the local version of ouzo) with great sea food. You’ll also discover , museums, shopping centres and exhibitions.
Volos is mainly built on the area of the ancient city of Iolcus. Iolcus was the homeland of the mythical ancient Greek hero, Jason.
This is also where he and the Argonauts began their voyage on their ship, the Argo, in search of the Golden Fleece. A replica of the Argo can be seen on the waterfront of Volos.
Beginning a yacht charter from the Port of Volos gives access to many places of exceptional beauty that people often sail past in their haste to get to the Sporades islands.
Volos lies at the northern tip of the Pagasitikos Gulf, an almost lake-like stretch of water, just 13 Nautical miles across and 15 long. On the southern tip of the gulf you will find the exit to the Aegean Sea and the Sporades islands.
Pagasitikos gulf is ideal for relaxed sailing, as the sea is usually relatively calm with light warm winds. There are many sailing destinations within a few miles from Volos marine such as :
Afissos" and "Kala Nera", are famous tourist resorts,surrounted by wonderful beaches.Near them two small quiet fishing villages , "Lefokastro" and "Kato Gatsea“.

“Palaio "Trikeri bay"“
The small island "Palaio Trikeri" is located in the southern part of the Pagasitikos gulf . An island without vehicles, with picturesque small quiet beaches, could be a stop on your sailing trip to Sporades islands and back. Excellent taverns offer the best traditional sea food.
“Amaliapolis“
This picturesque fishing village is situated in the Bay of Mitzellas, on the Western side of the Pagasitikos Gulf.
“Nies Bay“
Beautiful bay on the western side of the gulf protected from all the winds. Gulf surrounded by steep olive tree hills.
“Pigadhi“
Is a picturesque village by the sea. Beautiful sandy beaches surround it. Lies on the southern tip of the Pagasitikos Gulf. Around the port you will find fish taverns, all serving fresh fish caught by the local fishermen.

The island is located out of the gulf but in your course to the islands of Sporades.A fishing village with unique atmosphere and perfect fish taverns.
